Mei is a a personal research project to create a typeface that explores the theme of hybrid identity, specifically being British-Chinese, by combining Latin script and Chinese writing strokes. A personal interpretation of the ‘ethnic’ typography styles commonly used in businesses like Chinese takeaways, I aimed to elevate them creating a personalised version that felt modern and elegant.
